4.5 Inch Diving Bell Prop
Undersea Miniatures from Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (ABC-TV, 1964-68). Three highly-detailed undersea miniatures used in filming the special effects sequences, accompanied with a small diving bell used for close-up shots. Each features a simulated metal surface covered with barnacles and rust, along with small trigger plungers(some bent), and the diving bell made from resin painted gold and red with studio weathering. These pieces were fabricated by the 20th Century Fox special effects department, and most likely used in many other Fox film and Television productions in the 1960s. The miniatures measure 4 in. tall, and the diving bell measures 4 1/2 in. diameter.

Sold for $800 at the Profiles in History Hollywood Auction 17 on 12th December 2003.
