A group of production and publicity ephemera from the film Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (20th Century Fox, 1961) and its successful television adaptation (ABC, 1964-68), In the great Irwin Allen style, the series achieved production values significantly higher than its budget by recycling sets from the earlier film.
Items include hand-drawn blueprints of the control room (dated 10/18/63) and Admiral's cabin interiors from the TV series pilot; a French 45 RPM record single of the main title theme sung by Frankie Avalon (who appears in the film); 20 promotion pictures from the film; two sealed Tru-Vue Stereo Card sets tied to the TV series and dated 1966; a Ken Films movie short reel of the film (super 8mm, color, sound) dated 1975; Americom 8mm movie shorts from the TV series dated 1966 and titled "The Octopus" (includes sync record) and "The Atomic Cloud" (missing sync record); a TV film promo (16mm, no film, no reel) marked "do not use"; a TV trailer for the series episode "The Rescue" (16mm); 35mm color slides from the series episode "Fires of Death"; four color transparencies in a package labeled "Fires of Death"; four color transparencies featuring David Heddison and Richard Basehart; three press kits; and over 15 folded mailers on color cardstock for the TV series.
