Center Panel on Center Control Panel Station
Main Center Control Panel Station from The Time Tunnel (ABC-TV, 1966-67). This is the actual center control station, situated directly in front of the immense Time Tunnel in every episode of this classic science fiction television series. This free standing/rolling control panel was modified from an actual U.S. Air Force military surplus control module (a common practice of Irwin Allen's production design teams) and features vintage electronics, illumination capability, and custom graphics on the face panels featuring an hourglass motif, which symbolizes Time. It is this panel which contributed to the operation of the Time Tunnel device, and thus the destiny of the heroes - Dr. Tony Newman and Dr. Douglas Phillips (portrayed by actors James Darren and Robert Colbert). This unusual production artifact was acquired directly from 20th Century Fox by a Hollywood prop rental house and rented to various other productions throughout the 1960s, '70s and '80s. Though the TV monitor in the center of the panel was removed for another production, the station remains intact with its distinctive Time Tunnel controls, and instantly indentifiable to those who enjoyed tuning in to this popular series every week. A phenomenal science fiction artifact! Measures 68 in (wide) x 44 in. (deep) x 45 in. (tall).

Note that the actual center control panel in The Time Tunnel was a monitor screen.

Sold for $20,000 at the Profiles in History Hollywood Auction 17 on 12th December 2003.
