Seaview Model Picture
The 18 foot long Seaview Miniature shown in the Motion Picture Exhibitor Flyer-Poster has pipes long the port side, to generate an enhanced wave effect. This is the only photo we have seen with this form of piping along the Seaview prop model. The article discusses the 18 foot long Seaview prop miniature (see below).

SUBMARINE MODEL

The bulk of the heart-stopping action in "VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA" takes place in an atomic submarine of spectacular design and performance. This impressive undersea craft is another natural exploitation aid in merchandising the picture.

An 18-foot model submarine which was used in the picture, quite valuable and spectacular in appearance will form the focal point of department store window tieups in conjunction with paintings depicting scenes from the film and interesting miniature models made of the submarine interiors.

Revell, the largest manufacturers of plastic models in the world, serving over 50,000 retailers, is sponsoring a contest through exhibitors for the best model sub similar to the U.S.O.S. SEA VIEW used in the filming of "VOYAGE."

There are over 35 million model builder hobbyists covering all ages and sexes offering a great exploitation opportunity for a tie-in of major importance. Exhibitors can go to the local distributor of Revell models for help in setting up contests in their theatres.

Carrying this emphasis on ship models a logical step further, the exhibitor can tic in with hobby stores which feature such equipment. Retail outlets of this kind arc naturals for window displays and mounting of other accessories calling attention to "VOYAGE" playdates.

The excellent scene stills and other photographic material available, with emphasis on the submarine model, are just the thing to capture the attention of the host of model-hobbyists who constitute an excellent market for "VOYAGE."

Of course, the actual submarine model mentioned above will be available only for major window displays in key openings, but it does the important job of suggesting to alert theatremen many ways in which they can take advantage of the same interests to tap the same market in their own locales.
