Lost in Space "Model B-9" Original Robot Leg Section (CBS, 1965-1968). Vintage original component of one of the most famous and beloved robots in the history of Sci-Fi Television. The Bob Stewart-designed Robot "suit" became as much a living, thinking, emoting character as any of the flesh and blood family Robinson and crew marooned in space on the show. Worn and operated by Bob May, and voiced primarily by Dick Tufeld, "The Robot's" wildly flailing arms and monotone catch phrase, "Danger Will Robinson!" have become a permanent imprint on our collective pop culture consciousness. This original relic represents the bellows legs portion of the Model B-9 suit. Constructed of dense rubber over canvas corrugated sheath and suspended from a topmost metal frame or armature that would affix to the top of the suit. The bottom legs exhibit canvas cuffs that would attach to the lower base of the suit. In its working state, this leg portion would hang like a round-pleated accordion bellows. While the rubber has petrified and compressed, examination of the piece still reveals the inner workings and materials legibly. These legs were removed from the original robot in 1999 during restoration. The piece measures 23" x 22" x 6" and is accompanied by a COA signed by producer Kevin Burns, "Dr. Smith" actor, Jonathan Harris, "Will Robinson" actor Bill Mumy and Ron Hamill. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
