Original Hero B-9 Robot Walkable Bermudas
Original Hero B-9 Robot Walkable "Bermudas" Lower-waist Rig from Lost in Space (CBS TV, 1965-1968). During production on the original Lost in Space TV series, the original hero Robot costume sometimes had to turn a sharp corner or walk on the set. To facilitate this, a separate lower-waist rig was built with a set of latex legs attached. Inside, a strap shoulder harness was attached to the underside of the waist ring. Bob May, the actor inside the robot costume would wear the harness with the Robot legs dangling below. The torso of the robot was lowered over Bob and locked to the waist ring. When shot slightly below the waistline, the Robot could perform moves that wouldn't be possible with the heavier rolling leg section. This is the original set of walkable robot legs dubbed "the Bermudas" by Bob and the crew. This was the only set of legs used. The same legs were used 30 years later for a short scene in the Fantasy Worlds of Irwin Allen TV special. Exhibits production wear and age with hardened and cracking latex. Comes with a wooden support stand. Measures 21.5" x 21.5" x 19". Comes with a wooden stand and measures 36" tall (on stand). Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
