Dagger Prop in Cave of the Dead

Presented is a hero dagger from the third episode of season four of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, titled "Cave of the Dead." When four Navy ships disappear, the Seaview investigates a mysterious island and comes across a cursed dagger connected to the legend of the Flying Dutchman. The dagger's curse caused crewmates and comrades to turn against each other, with David Hedison's character Capt. Lee Crane attempting to murder Richard Basehart's Adm. Harriman Nelson while wielding the dagger, all the while Warren Stevens' Commander Van Wyck watches on, eerily. The dagger exhibits a heavily circulated manner of appearance and is accompanied by a Letter of Provenance signed by Virginia Aaron, the wife of David Aaron, who worked in the prop department at Twentieth Century Fox, attesting to its authenticity.
