Lot #720 Irwin Allen | "The Poseidon Adventure" and "Beyond" Storyboard Copy Binder with Additional Production and Publicity Materials Estimate: $300 - $500 Starting Bid: $100
A binder filled with over 300 pages of xerographs of storyboard sketches in scene order and ship design blueprints of the S.S. Poseidon from the production of Irwin Allen's blockbuster disaster movie The Poseidon Adventure (20th Century Fox, 1972); together with a group of additional production and publicity materials from the film and its sequel Beyond the Poseidon Adventure (Warner Bros., 1979). Several pages of the binder are marked; some have "Bill Creber," the name of the film's production designer, handwritten on them.
Additional Poseidon Adventure items include one set of large lobby cards and one of small (eight cards each), both in original mailer envelopes; two screening programs; a sheet of paper with four lifesaver shaped stickers reading "The word is out...The Poseidon Adventure is great!" (an additional sticker has become detached); three sets of sheet music for "The Morning After (Song from The Poseidon Adventure)," which became a hit single and won an Oscar for Best Song; an oversized publicity/promotion/exploitation manual; a prototype for a magazine cover showing the capsized ballroom; and a pamphlet announcing upcoming 1973 film screenings, including Poseidon. Beyond the Poseidon Adventure items include two show cards; an 11 x 14 lobby picture set with front logo card (sealed); an 8 x 10 lobby picture set with front logo card (sealed); eight lobby cards; and a press kit in its original mailer envelope.
