A warm welcome to the Irwin Allen News Network (IANN). Established in 1994 by Giants Log, with the late Paul Zastupnevich as president, IANN has focussed on bringing the wonderful worlds of Irwin Allen to a wider audience. Working with fans, cast and crew around the world, IANN has published dozens of newsletters, specials and web sites to promote the television shows, movies, performers, and the production crew working so hard behind the scenes.
We hope you will enjoy browsing around the site and that you will find new material of interest. We welcome your ideas and input to help us to continue to bring the work of Irwin Allen to new generations.
If you would like to contribute research, personal memories of working on the productions, articles, photos, artwork and other creative ideas, please do contact us. We are continually developing the site whenever we have a spare moment, and the extent to which we can do this depends on everyone who has fond memories of these shows and movies.

LOST IN SPACE BOOK UPDATE
We have received the following update from Jacobs Press regarding purchase dates and retailers for Marc Cushman's Lost in Space book trilogy.
Irwin Allen's Lost in Space: The Authorized Biography of a Classic Sci-Fi Series, Vol. 1 , with foreword by Bill Mumy, is now available for purchase through Amazon in the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, and other markets, so readers will not have to import from the U.S.
For serious collectors, however, there remain two advantages for buying direct from the publisher, Jacobs Brown Press: These copies are printed by the publisher in the U.S. and therefore may be of a slightly better quality, plus they come autographed by author Marc Cushman.
Volume 2 of this three-book set, with foreword by Angela Cartwright, became available in the United States on November 29, exclusively at the publisher's online store, Jacobs Brown Media Group. This book will be available through Amazon in the U.S. in early December. It will be made available in the U.K., Canada, and Germany through the Amazon online stores in those markets in mid-December.
Volume 3 will be released in the U.S. in January 2017, then made available in the U.K., Canada, and other non-U.S. markets in February.

THE TIME TUNNEL 50TH ANNIVERSARY
Happy 50th Birthday to The Time Tunnel and to all who have travelled through time with us this past 50 years. On Friday 9th September 2016, The Time Tunnel celebrates the 50th Anniversary of its first broadcast in the US on Friday 9th September 1966. Above are the original US TV Guide clippings for the premiere. Time hasn't weakened the popularity of this series as evidenced by the continued interest amongst fans, collectors, authors, and time travellers! The influence of The Time Tunnel is far reaching as many night clubs, events, movies and tv shows take inspiration from the theme and design of the Time Tunnel for their stories, logos and backdrops. In the UK, The Time Tunnel first aired on the BBC on 9th July 1968, and only had a partial run before being shown in a few ITV regions in the 1970s and then experienced a rebirth over 22 years later on late night television (ITV).
IRWIN ALLEN'S LOST IN SPACE, VOLUME 1
Available now is the first of two volumes by Marc Cushman recording the history of Irwin Allen's Lost in Space. Reaching nearly 700 pages, this first volume covers the making of the first season of Lost in Space and features many notes from Lost in Space production papers, never seen before photos, and old and new interviews with those involved in the show. Reading through the chapters will give you a greater understanding on how television classics like this were produced.
This will be the ultimate reference source for anyone studying the series.
Marc Cushman has also written a three volume series of books researching Star Trek.
The book is available direct from the publishers Jacobs Brown Press or on Amazon.com.

COMMEMORATING IRWIN ALLEN'S 100TH BIRTHDAY
12th June 2016 marks the 100th birthday of Irwin Allen, the "Master of Disaster", and all round king of science fiction and movie making. It's amazing to think that he was already in his fifties when busy making his quartet of science fiction shows in the mid to late sixties and this shows us all how much can be achieved even in our later years. He has inspired many movie makers who followed in the decades since, and his name and productions are often referred to and compared with when critiquing current day producers' work. That influence shows no sign of abating as we commemorate Irwin Allen's 100th birthday. We are working on a number of projects in the coming months and years to help keep his body of work in the public eye well into his second hundred years and beyond. Your input to these projects is a vital and a most welcome contribution to ensuring his legacy for the future. Please feel free to share your Irwin Allen creations, collections, and research any time via our contact page.

30 Greatest Disaster Movies
Channel 5's 30 Greatest Disaster Movies (UK Channel 5, 10-11.30pm, Sunday 20th September 2015) featured three Irwin Allen disaster movies, namely The Swarm, The Poseidon Adventure and The Towering Inferno. During the broadcast, Irwin Allen was referred to as "the daddy of disaster movies in the 1970s" and of course "the Master of Disaster".
Surprisingly, the list also featured several zombie and science fiction movies, possibly due to the fact that it was broadcast during an "End of the World" weekend on Channel 5 (even Celebrity Big Brother got involved in the theme). By including such movies in the genre, some older classic disaster features were omitted from the list including more vintage movies like The Rains Came and San Francisco. Hopefully, some day a list of the greatest "possible" disaster movies will be compiled, limited to real-world disasters (albeit with some added drama that all good movies need).
The list was compiled by a number of film critics and based upon US Box Office success (adjusted for inflation). In current day monetary terms, both The Poseidon Adventure and The Towering Inferno receipts exceed $500,000,000.

LOST IN SPACE AT THE HOLLYWOOD SHOW
More sad news from the Irwin Allen production "family". Robert Kinoshita, designer of the iconic Lost in Space B9 Robot and Forbidden Planet's Robbie the Robot (who also guest starred in two episodes of Lost in Space) died on 9th December 2014, at the grand age of 100.
IN LOVING MEMORY OF OUR CHIEF, TERRY BECKER
It is with deep sadness that we have learned from his family that our dear friend Terry Becker, Chief Francis Ethelbert Sharkey from Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea passed away on Tuesday 30th December 2014.
We are so glad that Terry and his wife Linda were able to attend and enjoy the Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea 50th Anniversary Reunion in October 2014, and that attending fans were able to enjoy Terry's wonderful and mischievious sense of humour. We have much to remember Terry by, with his outstanding attendance at the 1998 VIP convention in Sheffield England, and so many fun appearances in Irwin Allen's Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.
We want to echo Allan Hunt's words of warmth when remembering Terry, saying "The Chief lived a long and active life for all of us to admire and appreciate. It was an honor to know and work with him. On Voyage he was a friend and supportive co-worker, as was Del Monroe, rest him."
After some private grieving time and a family service on 5th January, his family have created a very special online memorial where you can leave messages of condolence. Our love and heartfelt sympathies goes to everyone who knew and worked with Terry over his long and illustrious life.

HELP NEEDED WITH RESEARCH
The main focus of our efforts at the Irwin Allen News Network is to document the history of all of the Irwin Allen movies and television shows and this implies extensive levels of research. We are particularly trying to credit actors and crew who didn't receive on-screen credits in the productions.
We are also studying the movies, trying to identify as many people as possible who appeared on screen and this is proving to be a never-ending challenge. We have recently added a gallery of faces from The Poseidon Adventure and The Time Travelers amongst others and have several faces we cannot yet identify. If you can help with any of these missing names with corroborating pictures of the unnamed actors, please contact us.

This unique event showcases the delightful camaraderie between the cast members and is something we are very keen to extend to a convention in the UK.
